Trump sets Monday afternoon speech at Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool

President Donald Trump is scheduled to address the public from the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool in Washington, D.C., on Monday afternoon. The White House issued a formal announcement confirming the event hours after the president first mentioned the plans to reporters in Iowa.

The speech will serve as a closing argument for the midterm elections. According to individuals familiar with the upcoming remarks, Trump is expected to outline the Republican Party's platform. He will also discuss ongoing renovation projects in Washington, D.C., and the recent reopening of the Reflecting Pool itself.

Trump initially disclosed the location in comments made while deplaning from Air Force One on Sunday. He stated the venue was chosen to demonstrate its aesthetic appeal. Although he suggested the event might occur the following day, he did not provide specific timing details at that moment.

This appearance represents a shift in the president's recent campaign strategy. For the past month, Trump has conducted more than 25 rallies in predominantly conservative regions. The Associated Press reports that these efforts aim to offset low approval ratings and negative polling data. That data suggests the Iran war, high energy prices, and rising living costs could favor Democrats on election night.

The Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool speech will be one of the final chances for the president to directly pitch his message to prospective voters before the midterms.
