Skagit Ferry Shifts to Cap Sante After Bridge Inspection
WSDOT found a problem with the Anacortes bridge, forcing the ferry to move its dock and limit service to passengers only.

Commuters in Anacortes lost regular vehicle ferry service on Monday evening after state inspectors found a problem with the bridge. The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) flagged the infrastructure issue during a check at 5:25 p.m. Skagit County canceled all regular operations immediately to allow for further testing.
The shift changes how locals cross the water. The Arrow Launch vessel is operating from Cap Sante A Dock instead of the usual terminal. The boat is carrying passengers only, meaning drivers must leave their cars at the Port of Anacotes and walk or arrange transport to the dock. Ferry crews are on the ground to scan tickets and assist with boarding.
Two emergency runs took place on Monday night at 8:00 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. The service resumes on the standard schedule on Tuesday morning, October 27. The first departure leaves Cap Sante at 6:30 a.m., and the final run of the day is scheduled for 9:15 a.m. County officials plan to release more details about the bridge and service status after the morning inspections conclude.
Passengers are using a provided map to find parking spots at the Port of Anacortes. The county asked drivers to avoid areas marked no parking to keep port operations running. Riders with mobility concerns are instructed to speak with the crew upon arrival. The staff will help accommodate passengers who must board at the temporary location.
