Fairfield police identified Constance Hages, 31, as the victim in a shooting at a Spirit Halloween store inside the Solano Town Center. Hages, who was pregnant, died after gunfire erupted inside the retail space at approximately 8:30 p.m. Friday.
Six other individuals sustained injuries in the attack. Three men, aged 16, 19, and 32, were listed in critical condition. A fourth man, age 23, was hospitalized in critical but stable condition. Two additional men, ages 19 and 43, were treated for gunshot wounds and released.
Authorities stated the shooting stemmed from a targeted incident involving one suspect. The Fairfield Police Department said it is reviewing video footage and other evidence to identify the individual responsible. No arrests have been made as of Saturday.
The Solano Town Center, which houses 130 stores and restaurants, remained open to the public. Management canceled its scheduled trick-or-treat event for the day in response to the previous night's incident. The mall said it appreciated the patience of visitors during the disruption.
The FBI’s Sacramento office is assisting local police with the investigation. The department acknowledged the community's uncertainty, particularly given the timing of local Halloween celebrations. Officers encouraged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activity.
Fairfield, a city of approximately 120,000 residents, is located about 37 miles southwest of Sacramento. It sits roughly halfway between Sacramento and San Francisco.
