Cricket Australia announced on Wednesday that its financial year 2025-26 closed with a record total revenue of A$601.1 million, equivalent to US$423 million. The governing body reported a net surplus of A$81.8 million, or US$57 million, a sharp reversal from the A$11.3 million loss recorded in the 2024-25 fiscal year. The organization attributed the strong commercial performance to record audiences and successful international seasons.
The primary drivers of the financial growth were media rights agreements tied to the men's home Test series against England and the limited-overs series against India. These two competitions generated record levels of media, commercial, and match-day revenue. Attendance figures for the Ashes series set new standards, with 859,580 spectators attending over 18 days. The average crowd size reached 47,754 per match.
On the field, the national teams achieved notable results during the period. The men's team retained the Ashes with a 4-1 victory over England at home. The women's team secured their seventh ICC T20 World Cup title by defeating England in the final at Lord's. In the bilateral series against India held in October and November, the Australian men won the ODI series 2-1, while India took the T20 series 2-1.
Despite the current surplus, Cricket Australia forecast financial losses for the 2026-27 and 2027-28 financial years. The organization cited a cyclical decline in media rights and match revenues that aligns with the international touring schedule. This projection follows the current financial peak driven by the high-profile home series.
The Australian men's team is currently in South Africa for a Test series. Upon their return, they will host England in a white-ball series beginning November 13. Following that, they will host New Zealand for four Test matches running from December 9 to January 8. The team will then travel to India for a five-Test series that starts January 21 in Nagpur.
