A viral video captured Friday morning in North Hollywood depicts federal immigration officers using physical force to detain a man outside the Ivy at NOHO apartments on Otsego Street.
The footage shows three masked agents lifting the handcuffed man by his arms and legs to place him into a vehicle. The man can be heard crying out in pain during the lift.
Shortly after the detention, an agent approached a man walking two dogs on the adjacent sidewalk. The agent pointed a handgun at the bystander’s face and pushed him into a bush. The bystander appeared unarmed but had just picked up a canister from the ground before discarding it. He told onlookers, "I thought it was his!"
Immigration officials have not yet responded to requests for information regarding the identity of the detained man or the specific reason for his custody. Local authorities have also not released a statement clarifying the sequence of events.
Neighbor Nancy, who witnessed the incident, described feeling unsafe walking outside her building. She noted that the sight of the man being dragged caused fear for both herself and her son. "Until you actually witness it, it's actually really sad. It's really sad this is going on," she said.
