The 2027 full-size truck market brings a clear conflict for buyers: choose between a completely redesigned workhorse or a high-performance machine. Chevrolet and GMC have overhauled their 1500-series models, while Ford, Ram, and Toyota offer specific upgrades or new trims. According to Edmunds, these changes span engine power, towing capacity, and interior technology.

Chevrolet and GMC lead the redesign. The 2027 Silverado 1500 and Sierra 1500 share a new platform. They feature a 402-horsepower 5.7-liter V-8 and a 481-horsepower 6.6-liter V-8. A 350-horsepower turbocharged four-cylinder and a 305-horsepower diesel six-cylinder round out the lineup. The diesel offers the best fuel economy. These trucks tow up to 13,700 pounds and carry up to 2,340 pounds of payload. The Silverado starts at $41,395, while the premium Sierra starts at $51,295.

Ford updates the F-150 with a new standard 3.0-liter turbocharged V-6. Ford states this engine delivers peak torque sooner than the previous 2.7-liter model. The optional 5.0-liter V-8 is now available across more trims. A new F-150 Carhartt trim adds rugged interior materials. Lower-priced versions of the Tremor and Raptor off-road models are also available. Ford has updated BlueCruise hands-free driving to work while towing. The estimated starting price is $40,500.

Ram debuts two distinct models. The Rumble Bee focuses on on-road performance, featuring a wide-body design and a supercharged 6.2-liter V-8 producing 777 horsepower. The SRT Rumble Bee reaches a top speed of 170 mph. The SRT TRX returns for off-roading with the same 777-horsepower engine, a reworked suspension, and a new interior. The Ram 1500 starts at $45,370.

Toyota refines the Tundra with sharper styling and a new Honeycomb color for the TRD Pro. A new Trailhunter model targets overlanders. It includes all-terrain tires, tuned suspension, and underbody skid plates. A next-generation infotainment system with a standard 14-inch touchscreen replaces the previous unit. The estimated starting price is $44,000.

All prices include destination charges. Buyers can select from regular, extended, and crew-cab configurations for the Chevrolet and GMC models. The GMC Sierra offers a Multi-Flex center console that converts into a flat work surface. Both GM trucks feature a three-screen dashboard with a 12.2-inch driver display, a 16.3-inch center touchscreen, and an 11.5-inch passenger display.
