The Los Angeles Chargers entered their seventh game of the 2026 season with a full week of preparation following a bye. That break did not change their standing, as they remain the only winless team in the National Football League.

On Sunday in Inglewood, the Chargers fell to the Los Angeles Rams by a score of 24-9. This result drops the team's record to 0-7 and marks their seventh consecutive defeat. The loss also extends a skid that began at the end of the previous season to a total of 10 games.

Quarterback Justin Herbert completed 24 of his 32 pass attempts for 257 yards. While his passing yardage was a personal best for the season, he threw two interceptions. Those throws bring his total for the year to nine and 10, a number that leads the league.

The offensive unit failed to score a touchdown on any drive during the game. This marks the second straight game where the Chargers have gone without a touchdown drive, extending a streak of nine straight quarters without scoring a touchdown via a drive. The last time they scored a touchdown on a drive, running back Kimani Vidal ran 42 yards late in the third quarter of a loss to the Denver Broncos on Oct. 11.

Kicker Cameron Dicker was the only player to score for the Chargers, converting three field goals. The offense was held to zero points after halftime. Across the season, the Chargers have been outscored 83-54 in the second halves of games. In the fourth quarters specifically, the team has been outscored 63-13.

Head coach Jim Harbaugh identified the inability to finish drives as the primary issue. He noted that the team lost control during the middle eight minutes of the game, allowing the Rams to score touchdowns before halftime and on the opening drive of the second half. Harbaugh also pointed to turnovers as a key factor in the defeat.

Despite the loss, Harbaugh confirmed that offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel will keep his play-calling duties. McDaniel did not speak to reporters immediately after the game, as his regular press conference is scheduled for Thursday. Harbaugh described the coaching staff as highly motivated and dedicated to correcting the issues seen on the field.

The Chargers have three remaining games in November. They host the Houston Texans next Sunday at SoFi Stadium. The team then travels to Baltimore to face the Ravens on Nov. 16. They conclude the month by hosting the New York Jets at home on Nov. 22.

The NFL trade deadline is set for Nov. 10. Outside linebacker Khalil Mack, a 13-year veteran with nine Pro Bowl selections, said he is focused on the present despite speculation about potential trades. Mack stated he must remain where his feet are to handle outside noise.

Mack also expressed support for Herbert, calling him a brother. He noted that he has Herbert's back through the ups and downs of the season. The Rams' offense was led by Matthew Stafford, who directed touchdown drives on three of their four possessions, including a scoring drive during a two-minute drill before halftime.
