New MacBook Pro Lands With OLED Screen and Touch Input
Apple's latest laptop adds a lighter chassis and a glowing logo while bringing touchscreen support to the Mac line.

Apple put a new MacBook Pro on display in Los Angeles on October 28, 2026, and the machine pairs an OLED screen with touch input. The demonstration ran for about five minutes on a crowded showroom floor.
The unit felt lighter than the 14-inch MacBook Pro with M1 Max that a reporter carries daily. The weight change does not move the laptop into a different class, though the reduction is easy to sense when lifting it. Apple also placed a Dynamic Island element at the top of the display. On a laptop screen it takes up less area than it does on an iPhone. The prior MacBook Pro design hid apps and games below the notch so the cutout did not intrude on the image; the reporter could not test that behavior on the new model. The Apple logo on the lid lights up again.
Touchscreen support on a Mac reverses a position Steve Jobs held. Reports surfaced in earlier years indicating that Apple moved ahead with touch input under Tim Cook and John Ternus.
Apple has not released pricing or a ship date for the machine described here. The reporter was able to handle the laptop but did not run games or other full-screen software during the demonstration.
